A Trip To Morocco With Joyfolie
A few weeks ago Clayton and I were lucky enough to embark on an amazing adventure to Marrakech, Morocco with the Joyfolie team. Since then I’ve been running around like crazy. Immediately after Marrakech we headed to Paris, France. You can catch the full recap on that mini trip here. From Paris we came back home to Laguna Beach for a few short days before heading out to Coachella. You can also get that full scoop here as well as watch my vlog! Since then we’ve had family in town and immediately after that I headed out to Hawaii – which I will cover on here and my YouTube very soon! As you can see its been a very busy month. That being said, it took me a little while to get my Moroccan vlog and blog content into order. Sorry for the delay but I’m still so excited to share it with you guys! If you want to learn more about the Morocco trip read on!
A Dream Come True
I would like to preface this blog by saying that it has truly always been a dream of mine to go to Africa. When given the opportunity to make this dream a reality I was overwhelmed with joy and delight. When I started blogging/modeling/influencing almost two years ago I had no idea where it might take me. I’m truly grateful for the opportunities I’ve been presented because of that leap of faith I took to start this journey. It goes to show that you should do things that scare you. Push yourself. Expand outside of your comfort zone and encourage growth. You will be pleasantly surprised where it will take you in life! 🙂
Shortly after beginning my modeling career I met the Joyfolie girls. Since then I’ve met up with them in three different places, and had SO much fun each time. Morocco of course was no different. I had a blast with the Joyfolie team per usual and I even got to bring along Clayton this time! Truly feeling so blessed for this amazing experience and the people I was able to share it with!
Another World
Decor on Point
Like I mentioned above it’s been a dream of mine to go to Africa since as long as I can remember. I never really thought of Morocco when daydreaming about Africa but I am so glad I got the opportunity to visit this amazing place! The experience was unreal. The streets of Marrakech are full of cars and scooters, donkeys carrying goods and people in carts, and tons of pedestrians as well. There’s artisans hand making goods, fresh orange juice stands, snake charmers, and tons of colorful garments and home decor. I often felt that I was in a different time period as well as a different world. There was so much to take in.
The architecture and interior decorating was my favorite part of the Moroccan culture. From lanterns, throws, rugs, poufs, crown molding and more – Morocco does it big. There is so much detail, beauty, and artistry in all of their decor and it’s honestly so amazing and beautiful. I truly wanted to bring everything home with me and redecorate my entire apartment Moroccan style! Sadly I wasn’t able to do that this time but I will never forget the beautiful Moroccan style decor. P.S. these photos include the home we stayed in as well as a hotel we shot at! 🙂
Moroccan Tour
Although our trip was short it was jam packed full of activities and exploring. We booked a tour guide which was immensely helpful. If you are planning on going to Morocco I would highly recommend booking a local tour guide to show you around. Latif (our tour guide) showed us all of the best spots in Marrakech. He was able to give us an authentic experience full of surprises and adventures. This helped alleviate the language barrier as well as guide us in the direction we wanted to go without too much confusion or difficulty. Some of my favorite spots he took us included a rug shop, a wool dying station in the Souks, and an herb shop. Each of these destinations included a tour and a run down of each industries process. It was so stimulating and inspiring to explore the Moroccan culture in this fashion!
Work Mode – Play Mode
Although this trip was full of exploring and experiencing the Moroccan culture it was after all a work trip. Shooting the Joyfolie Summer collection was top priority so we dedicated a lot of time in between fun adventures to getting all the dreamy Morocco shots. You can peep some of those photos on Joyfolie’s website here. The weather was a little iffy while we were there so we had to time some of our shoots around the rain.
We also had to carefully navigate the culture in the Souks. We shot a lot of content in the home we were staying in which was great. Here we had tons of privacy, creative freedom, and flexibility. When we went out to shoot in the market it was a little more challenging. Again, Latif was so helpful in this process and made sure that we were safe, respectful, and as comfortable as possible. I was so glad Clayton was able to attend the trip with me as well as it made me feel extra safe and at ease when shooting in an unusual setting. There was a lot of attention on Christina (the other model) and I while we were shooting around town but it worked out. We just quickly shot the looks and moved from one location to the next. We also shot at a few hotels on the last day which was super easy and fun. No matter what location we were in we made it work and we had so much fun along the way!
Trip Of A Lifetime
All in all this trip was truly one for the books. I still can’t believe that Clayton and I were able to go to Morocco. I can’t thank the Joyfolie team enough for allowing me to be a part of your creation squad. It was so much fun to explore Morocco with all of you and I will truly treasure this experience and these memories forever! Can’t wait to share more adventures with you guys! Xx
