A Must Have Dress

Have you ever truly fallen in love with a piece of clothing? It’s obvious that I’m a major apparel junky, but it’s rare that I find a piece I’m endlessly in love with. In today’s post I’m going to be sharing my love for this amazing silk slip dress by Planet Blue as well as a multitude of ways to style it! If you’re interested to learn more read on!

Slip Dress Obsessed

In general I’ve found myself gravitating towards the slip dress trend lately. I love the effortless feel to this look and the fact that it is so easily layer-able. My current wardrobe is sprinkled with a few longer printed slip dresses that I’ve loved layering over tees or cinching in with a belt for a fancier look. I’ve realized this is definitely a part of my closet that I’d like to continue to grow. Not only is this trend so wearable but I also find it to be timeless, versatile, and super flattering + comfortable. Wins all around!

The Star of The Show

Although I’m obsessed with the slip dress trend overall today’s post is about this slip dress in particular! As fate would have it a few weeks back while I was in Hawaii for a work/girls trip I found myself going out with nothing but jeans and a tee shirt to wear. Luckily one of the babes on the trip (Jyo who is a total sweetheart!) had some spare dresses packed and readily let me borrow one. The dress I ended up borrowing was this very slip dress. Right then and there was the beginning of the love affair. I immediately felt like it was my favorite dress ever. The fit, the quality, and the feel were perfect. I felt so effortless chic and comfortable in this piece and I knew I had to have it. Fast forward a few weeks and the slip dress was on my front doorstep.

Once I received the dress and tried it on my wheels really started turning. I realized this was going to be one of my favorite dresses for a very long time. Initially I had only thought of the dress as a great going out piece for warmer nights, such as the one in Hawaii. But once I started thinking about it I realized this dress had endless potential!

All Year Long

As I mentioned above I truly believe this piece is a staple for every season. Therefore I’m going to share a few of my favorite ideas on how to style this piece all year long!

Summer and Spring

This piece is obviously very easy to wear all Summer/Spring. It’s light and airy which is perfect for those hot sticky days. It pairs well as is with some casual sandals or sneakers. For today’s look I was going for a playful slightly vintage vibe. Therefore I paired it with some classic white sneakers, some white socks, a basket bag, some cat eye sunnies and a cute little neck scarf! For a dressier occasion perhaps a wedding or celebration this piece would look great with a fun pair of heels. I imagine a bright pop of color would look great, think fuchsia heels and bright pink lip! If you wanted to do something less girly and still casual I would say pair it with a band tee or plain white tee underneath the dress. This is a great way to add some texture and it’s also super cute!

Fall and Winter

Not to be overly hasty but I’m also super excited to wear this piece in the Fall and Winter months. I imagine pairing it was a black turtle neck layered underneath and some knee high black boots. This would also look great with a fun belt to add an extra detail and dress it up a bit. For a more casual look an oversized cardigan or crewneck sweater layered over the top paired with some comfy loafers sounds like a perfect Fall outfit to me! For dressier occasions such as holiday parties or even NYE this dress is a great piece on it’s own with a faux fur coat and some strappy heels.

Basically I want to wear this dress every day in every way. I’m obsessed and I’m not trying to hide it. Because I love this piece so much I really wanted to share it with you guys. It’s not a major splurge but it is a little bit of an investment so I wanted to share how versatile and worthy it really is. I will also link some other options below! Xx
