New York Fashion Week 2018
Hi friends! Happy Friday! This past week has been a whirlwind of events, fashion shows, travel and so much more as Clayton and I were at New York Fashion Week. This was our second year going and it was quite different than last year. Of course I wanted to share the experience with you all so I decided to write a blog post and I’ve also included a vlog at the end of this post! 🙂
Year Two
Last September when Clayton and I jetted off to NYFW we hardly knew what we were in for. We blindly headed into the week and had so much fun exploring NYC, attending our first ever fashion shows, and mingling with a few fellow bloggers.
This year I still didn’t feel like a fashion week pro but I had a better understanding of what it would be like. Much has changed in my life from a year ago. As I’ve grown my business my workload as increased as well. I am blessed and grateful to have as much work as I do, but it definitely made fashion week a different experience for me.
Last year I don’t think I had any paid work for fashion week so Clayton and I leisurely went about the big apple taking it all in. The weather last year was also perfect – mild, sunny, and gorgeous! This year we dealt with rain on all but one day. This made it much harder to shoot and walk around and enjoy the city. However, I find the rain to make NYC even more romantic and charming, so that’s a plus! And although the weather wasn’t ideal we still loved exploring all of the areas of nyc, eating at some amazing restaurants, drooling over the superb street style, and taking in the overall magical energy of the city.
Social Hour
Over the past year I’ve also been able to grow my network of fellow blogging babes. Moving to SoCal has definitely helped in that area as so many bloggers are based in LA. However many of the girls we got to hang out with at NYFW were from all over the place! It was such a treat to navigate fashion week with some girl boss babes. Pretty much all of them make a cameo in my vlog so don’t miss it! 🙂
I was also able to set up some business meetings while I was in New York. This was super exciting for me as I’m able to treat fashion week as a true business trip. Between growing my network and spending time with my internet friends in real life – I had the best time and it felt so socially and professionally productive!
Fashion Forward
I can’t talk about fashion week and skip over fashion! Much like last year, my favorite part of the whole week is checking out the street style fashion. Of course the shows are amazing as well. But it’s so inspiring to see people out in public rocking next level fashion. Next year I think I’ll plan my outfits out even further in advance and go for bolder looks. I thought the same thing last year after returning but honestly I rushed my packing process this year as I was on a trip right before we left! Either way, I just really love taking in the fashion scene at Nyfw. Between the shows, presentations, and street style I see so many people being creative, expressive, and stylish and it’s so motivating and inspiring to me! For this year I kept it very chic and classy with my looks for the most part. I included a few fun and sassy ones like the black dress with sequins and feathers as well as a sporty look incorporating snakeskin and biker shorts! You can check out my looks below if you missed them on Instagram as well as through the vlog! 🙂 Talk soon! Xx
