Happy New Year 2019!
Happy new year to you all! 🙂 I’m a few days late, but I still wanted to share my New Year’s resolutions with you guys. I find it so inspiring to read other peoples resolutions and goals so I figured it’s only fair to share my own. It’s also a great way to look back on and help keep myself accountable. Let’s get to it! 🙂
Getting Your Health Right
Every New Years I set some new health goals. Although it seems very cliche and a little cheesy kickstart your workouts on January 1, come up with a new way to eat the entire year etc. I don’t care because in the end it’s a positive thing to do for yourself. Wether you stick to it for 1 week or 1 year, what matters (in my opinion) is that you’re taking your health seriously, which is by no means a bad thing.
This year also seemed like the perfect time to start some new fitness/health goals as I’ve taken the last 6 weeks or so off from exercise due to my ovarian cyst removal. I’ve been patiently waiting to get back into the swing of things and hit the gym hard. However, I already live a very healthy active lifestyle so I didn’t really plan out any major changes on workout routine. But one thing I did want to incorporate into my fitness routine is a little bit of exploring. Therefore I made it my goal to try at least one new form of exercise this year. Maybe it’s paddle boarding, maybe it’s boxing, maybe I’ll give spinning a try for a month. The goal is to push myself outside of my comfort zone, try something new, and explore the possibilities of new workout methods.
Another health goal of mine is to keep up on my vitamins and supplements for the year. Last year I did a pretty good job, but I want to do even better this year. I want to take them consistently and mindfully. I’m thinking about doing an entire blog post on this topic as I’ve gotten a lot of questions on it in the past. Stay tuned for that! 🙂
Work Mode
The New Year is also a great time to get in gear for all of the professional goals you’d like to reach. Wether you’re an entrepreneur, climbing the corporate ladder, or even in between gigs at the moment – I think it’s a great time to organize a game plan. Since I run my own business I’ve got a lot of leeway and a lot of planning to do when it comes to professional goals. This can be anything from where and when to travel, to the type of content I’ll be posting all year, how much time I want to dedicate to my work weeks, dream clients to work with etc.
Content
For this year my main goals are organizing my content in a specific way and introducing more types of content. The first of which being – I will finally be sharing my recipes in a more organized and user friendly fashion! Unfortunately stories wasn’t cutting it as it’s not the best way to showcase the recipes. I’ll be adding a recipe section to the blog where it’ll be much easier to consume this information. I’m so excited to be sharing this part of my life with you guys as cooking is truly a passion of mine!
Another area of my business that I’ll be pouring A LOT of effort into this year is YouTube. Disclaimer: I did say this last year as well..and although I did grow my YouTube this past year I still didn’t take it as seriously as I had hoped. In 2019 I will be posting at least one video a week (usually Mondays) and at least 2 of those videos a month will be fashion related. This is my goal anyway, and I’m very much so determined to achieve it. So if you want to keep up with me on YouTube be sure to subscribe here!
Personal Development
Aside from health and business related goals, the New Year can also be used for personal development goals. This can be anything from lifestyle, relationship, education etc. I personally use it as a time to set out some lifestyle goals I’d love to incorporate into the new year as well as some relationship pointers to help me be a better me.
Do You
For personal goals this year I’m hoping to meditate at least once a week for 10 minutes at a time. Meditation is something that I am well aware could drastically improve the quality of my life. However, as a busy body on the go type of girl I’ve found it hard to incorporate into my life. That doesn’t mean it’s not possible though. So instead of setting the bar too high and trying to mediate each day, I’ve given myself a more realistic goal of once a week.
I also made it a personal goal of mine to read at least one book a month this year. Reading brings me so much peace, joy, and knowledge. It’s something I absolutely love doing but I haven’t always made it enough of a priority. Instead of staring at my phone or the tv screen before I go to bed at night I’m going to read each night. I’m also going to bring books with me almost anywhere, in the case that I have some downtime I’m going to spend some of it reading rather than again – staring at my phone.
I will also be writing in my journal/gratitude journal at least once a week. I used to write in my journal almost daily. It was such a great way to unwind, reflect on the day, and walk away feeling grateful for whatever the day held. I think it was such a healthy practice for me. It’s also a great way to save some very mundane yet special memories.
Be A Better Person To Others
Lastly I made a few goals for the relationships in my life. Obviously Clayton is the person I spend the most time with. He’s also the most important person in my life – he’s my everything. And because we spend so much time together sometimes (a lot) I end up nagging him for every little thing. It’s in my nature as a control freak to want everything to be perfect. And when I think something (even the smallest thing like the way the towel is folded) isn’t perfect I can begin to nag. And this isn’t something I’m proud of. Therefore I’m going to make a conscience effort to do less of it. Less nagging – more loving. Because let’s be real life isn’t perfect but Clayton is the biggest blessing in my life and instead of tearing him down for meaningless things, I’m going to celebrate the perfect imperfect human he is.
I’ll also be making a conscience effort not to judge others. This is especially hard for me to do with people I am close with. I think that being close to them makes me feel like I really do know everything they’re going through and that I’m allowed to judge them because I know it all. But of course this is not true. We never know the full extent of what anyone is going through. And because of that I want to be more compassionate, patient, and non judgmental when dealing with anyone in my life.
That pretty much rounds up all of my major goals for the coming year. Did you make resolutions and goals this New Years? If so I would LOVE to hear them! xx
