Hello friends! Last week Clayton and I took a trip to Whistler and Vancouver, it was our first trip to Canada and it was so much fun. Now that we’re home I wanted to share all of the details of our little winter getaway!
I’ve noticed that most people like to take vacations to warm and tropical destinations during the late winter months like January. Clayton and I decided to fully embrace the season and head to a colder climate and experience some true winter weather – LOL. And to be honest we loved it, I enjoy all of the seasons and most kinds of weather so personally it worked well for us. I’ll mostly be covering Whistler in this blog post as we spent more time there and there was generally more to do. But I will say that Vancouver seemed like such a cool city. I loved the overall vibe and they had some amazing vegan spots – you can reference all of that on my Whistler/Van highlight on IG!
Fairmont Chateau Whistler

We stayed at the Fairmont Chateau in Whistler, which is a stunning grande property that is so picturesque. It’s at the base of the Blackcomb Mountain which creates an outstanding backdrop but is also oh-so convenient for activities such as skiing, snowboarding, and sledding. The decor is cabin like and outdoorsy which is so on brand for the location. It’s still got a very elevated luxurious feel of course. Fire places, homey lounge areas, and grand windows were a few of my favorite details.
The views out of the rooms are incredible as well. We woke up each morning in a true winter wonderland – surrounded by snow covered trees, beautiful mountains, and snow falling.

For dining we had the pleasure of trying out The Wildflower – a restaurant focusing on a sustainable menu sources many of their ingredients from local vendors and farms. The ambience is beautiful and cozy with floor to ceiling windows looking out at the snow falling. Definitely a beautiful place to have dinner!
All The Activities
While in Whistler we figured we’d have to do some fun, outdoorsy, snow activities. That was one of our main reasons for going after all. Clayton grew up snowboarding and I’ve done a little bit of skiing in my life so we knew that was going to be top of our list. We also really wanted to try snowmobiling while there. We would have loved to get around to the ice skating rink and sledding as well but it didn’t happen. But we did have an awesome time skiing, boarding, and snowmobiling.
Hitting The Slopes

We rented our skis + board downstairs at the Fairmont which was super easy and convenient. Since the hotel is at the base of the mountain you just walk right out and hit the slopes. The views are incredible from the gondolas + peaks. There is also lots of variety of runs and terrain so there is something for everyone. It is a pricey activity but beautiful and so worth it!
Snowmobiling

Clayton and I had never been snowmobiling but we’ve always wanted to go. We figured there would be no better time or place than in Whistler! And I can definitely say I am so happy we did it. I think I preferred it even more than skiing. We booked a tour with Blackcomb Snowmobiles which was absolutely incredible. Climbing up the mountain, experiences incredible scenery and views, and romping along the terrain was truly so fun and unique for me. I felt like I was on the real life Matterhorn ride and I loved that! The staff at Blackcomb Snowmobiles was so nice, helpful, and accommodating and I would highly recommend booking a tour with them if you’re in Whistler!
Site Seeing

While in Whistler we also rented a car – make sure it’s all wheel drive if you’re gonna be in the snow! We needed it to drive from the Vancouver airport which is about 2 hours away, but it was also so nice to have during our stay in Whistler. We utilized the car to explore the surrounding areas and shoot some content. It was actually a really nice way to experience parts of Whistler and I’d definitely recommend it! However, at most of the hotels there is shuttles that will bring you around to various stops in the village which is super convenient for eating out, shopping, etc. right in the village!
What I Wore
As always I’ve tried to round up most of the looks I wore while on my trip. From travel outfits to snow gear – I got you covered for cute things!
