Happy Monday! Today’s blog post is all about this punk inspired look!
For this look I pretty much went all out on the punk vibe because, why not? I figured if I was going to do a distressed mini skirt and a moto jacket I might as well throw on some fishnets and some flatforms too. I’m really obsessed with the jacket, but I have to admit every piece of this look is a trend I am totally digging this season!
Denim Mini Skirts
Denim minis are something I’ve been into since I was about 10 years old. I remember a denim mini skirt being the coolest thing I could get my hands on in middle school. I find myself feeling similarly now too 😉 Denim is great because it matches virtually everything. And a little distressing on this mini makes it extra edgey and cool, which I am definitely down with. This mini is from Forever 21 and it initially had A TON of distressing all along the hem. Super cute, but it was a little over-done for my personal aesthetic. I decided to take a pair of scissors to the skirt and put my personal twist on it. I cut off most of the frayed edges but left a few hanging to add interest and personality to the skirt without making it the statement piece of this look.
Fishnets and Flatforms
These two accessories are some of my current favorites. Both are very edgey and a little out there, they aren’t for everyone but I personally love them because they push the envelope and they are so cool! The last time I sported the fishnets was under a pair of distressed denim, but I also love them with a skirt. Flatforms are something I’ve been admiring for quite some time. The Stella McCartney ones are super cute and fun but they have a pretty ridiculous price tag, so I opted for these ones from Public Desire. These ones are pretty understated so they were a perfect way for me to break into the trend. Maybe I will try some more outlandish ones next time.
And Of Course, The Jacket
I will forever and always love motto jackets. They make every outfit look chic and cool, while still being edgey and casual. I like to throw them on with so many different looks because I think they work with tons and tons of different styles. For today’s look came out punk-ish which is a classic look for a motto jacket. But I honestly pair motto jackets with anything from sweats to dresses. Definitely a must have! I also fell extra in love with this one because it has a cute little message on the back that inspires me to keep exploring. Not only did the message resonate with me personally but I also found that the design of the graphic was too cute. It added a bit of a girly twist to this edgey piece.
Enjoy!
