Ripped knees, platform sneaks, and a semi sheer top… all in black, now that’s an outfit that screams cool casual. Over in the Bay Area it’s been raining so much over the past couple of days that it’s been really challenging to wear cute yet practical clothes. Not to mention, it’s made shooting for the blog slightly challenging. However, I’m not complaining we need the rain and I am happy to have it. But in order to still get me #ootd shots I had to get a little creative and find some covered locations. I personally prefer the more natural lighted setting more but I think this urban/industrial feel worked well for this look.
A Quick Catch-Up
I have also been super busy running around like a crazy person and trying to get everything I possibly can done in a day. This is a bad habit that I’m trying to work on in 2017. Sometimes in order to get the best product out of your efforts you’ve got to be better about time management and quality. I find myself never wanting to say “no” to things because I’m constantly afraid of missing opportunities.
However, I have realized that sometimes you have to say no to things so that you can say yes to better things later. Not to mention, peace of mind and quality of life go a long way. If I allow myself to rest and unwind sometimes I know I will have a clearer headspace and a easier time creating in the long run. So this blog post is coming a little later than my previous blogging schedule, which was hard for me to accept, but like I said it’s all in the hopes of putting more time, effort, and meaning into each of my projects. I think you guys will appreciate the “best” version of me. What are some of the things you plan on working on going into this new year?
The Look
Anyways, enough about my personal schedule and agenda and onto this look.
Mesh is so in right now and I am so into mesh right now. Something about the material being sheer, but not too sheer is so cool and sexy. It reminds me a little of 90’s grunge in the best way possible. I also think it pairs well with so many different styles. Today I wore it as a casual urban style, but mesh is super trending in other areas such as fitness attire, nightwear, and more. It’s basically just a really fun texture that adds a fun element to any look. I usually find myself gravitating towards black mesh but I’ve also grown fond of it in white, olive green, and blush pink!
Ripped jeans are obviously the easiest and quickest way to make any outfit cooler, right? I think so anyway. I absolutely love distressed denim. Whether its shorts, a jacket, jeans… I think distressed is best, if that’s the kind of vibe you’re going for anyway. These black distressed jeans from free people are one of my favorite pairs. They are super stretchy and soft and they go with almost anything. Just a great staple to have in your wardrobe.
As you can see I also made a return for the flatforms. A few blog posts back I mentioned that I had been digging this trend, and as you can see I still am. I love that they makes the outfit look playful and cool. I topped off the look with a chic black bag including the trendy fluff ball, this choker set from Zara, and a high pony. Definitely casual, but still cool. Hope you enjoy this look!
