Time To Chill Out
Last week was a crazy week. I’m not sure if it was just me or if there was something off for everyone. After chatting with a bunch of friends I believe it was just a weird time for all of us. Anyways, after some pretty stressful things happening throughout the week I wanted to take the time to just relax at home this weekend. Although Clayton and I aren’t super good at that, we tried our best. Read on to learn more about my week and how I spent the weekend chilling out!
A Hellacious Week
As I mentioned above last week was crazy for me. But before I dive into it I will say that I realize these problems are by no means the worst problems to have. Above all I am grateful that I am healthy, alive, and surrounded by people I love. Nothing else really matters, but I can’t help but get a little stressed out from time to time.
Last week was jammed packed as I spent the first half of the week back home in Reno. I was visiting my doctor to discuss an ongoing cyst I’ve been dealing with. I didn’t receive bad news at my appointment which is truly a blessing. However, I didn’t feel like I had a clearer grasp on the situation or what I should do next after the appointment either. So I was pretty stressed about that. I flew back home late on Wednesday night, with plans of leaving for a trip to Portland on Friday afternoon. This in an of itself was a bit stressful as I barely had any time to recoup at home and get organized for the next trip. My one day to get organized and recharged was obviously Thursday. And Thursday happened to be the day everything went haywire!
One Thing After the Next
So Thursday started off with me having brunch with one of my girlfriend’s that was staying with me for a few days and another one of our gal pals. This was the best part of the day as it was so fun and relaxing to catch up with my girls. But from there I had to jet off to some appointments and errands before the upcoming trip the next day. While I was out and about doing so, my packages (for work) were stolen off my front porch! This all happened within an hour of them being delivered – crazy. I actually found the packaging across the street, as well as some other packages from my neighbors porches.
This was not a great feeling. Whenever something has been stolen from you it makes you feel extremely violated and uneasy. Not to mention I was so stressed about the fact that these parcels are my job. So I spent the rest of the afternoon filing a police report, trying to contact the company’s who’s items had been stolen, and wondering why and who was targeting me and my leopard print overalls?! Haha.
When It Rains It Pours
After a few hours of contemplating the situation in my head my girlfriend Erin and I walked down town to meet Clayton for dinner. This was actually a great distractor for me as I was sipping on margaritas, laughing, and enjoying a few of my favorite people. However, I was still not fully prepared (in any way) to pack up and leave again the next day for another trip. Come to find out Clayton was having a super stressful week at work as well. He wasn’t ready to leave either, but we had made a commitment so we felt we should go.
Next thing you know while were sitting at dinner Clayton says “I’ve got bad news.” For whatever reason he had decided to look at my blog while we were there because we’ve been having some 500 errors on it over the past few weeks. Well, turns out this was worse than a 500 error. My site didn’t exist. Nothing came up when he typed in my URL. This basically sent me into panic mode. In minutes all of my hard work and effort had been jeopardized. I wasn’t sure what exactly was going on but I appeared to have gotten hacked.
Needless to say we spent the next 4-5 hours on live chat with tech support, trying desperately to resolve the issue. After a while it was clear we weren’t going to reach a solution by the end of the night. So we decided to get some sleep. At this point we had already cancelled our trip to Portland as everything was just too much. When we woke up the next morning Clayton was able to get things sorted out and for the most part my blog was undamaged, minus the loss of a few posts that I’ve re-written this week. From here we obviously decided to beef up my security, change all my passwords, and try our best from avoiding this from happening again. All in all it was an extremely violating and stressful 24 hours that left me feeling wiped out.
Forced to Unwind
As I said above, Clayton and I aren’t the best at relaxing and unwinding. When things like this happens, we are forced to take a step back and chill out a bit. We often try to squeeze way to many things into one month, one weekend, and even one day. So for this weekend we took it as easy as we could. We spent a lot of time shooting as I still have to get my work done, but we tried to relax in between. I spent lots of time lounging in my new favorite set from Cosabella. Sometimes comfy clothes is one of the best remedies for helping me relax. We also tried to take a little more time to ourselves. Of course there’s always something going on and we love mingling with friends, but we felt too burned out to even socialize much this weekend. I think it was the perfect way to get back on track before we gear up for our next adventure in September! 🙂
Anyways, just wanted to fill you guys in on what’s been going on in my life. I’m sure many of you can relate to these types of things so I thought I’d share. It feels good to do a little venting too. But now that it’s a new week I’m feeling refreshed and recharged. And I’m wishing all of you a happy, productive, amazing week as well! Xx
