The Athleisure Trend
The athleisure trend is in full swing right now and I have to admit I’m not mad about it. For those that aren’t familiar with this term, it basically means that wearing sweats and yoga pants outside of the gym is now socially acceptable. I’ve actually been doing this for years because, who doesn’t love sweats? But unfortunately in my past “athlesiure” looks there was nothing trendy or stylish about them. I was basically just rocking my lounge wear in public because I was lazy and totally comfortable looking like a bum.
Now that the athleisure trend is happening, it’s allowed me to sport a comfy look that is still cute ands stylish. So cheers to wearing sweats, yoga pants, etc. and looking fly while doing it!
How To Style Athleisure
The key to nailing athleisure is mixing a little bit of comfy casual and a little bit of cool girl edge or calssic chic piece. For example, a pair of joggers with a fierce stiletto is a classic trick for this style. A button up with a pair of joggers or sweats is also a great take on the trend, and can even be work wear! Fishnet tights are also a current trend that makes basically anything look cooler than it is, so throw some on with a pair of baggy sweats and you’re rocking athleisure. Wedged sneakers are also one of my staples for these looks. The height of the wedge and the sneaker style is basically everything athleisure built into a shoe. So if you’re trying to up your sporty fashion game I would recommend investing in a few of these go-to pieces.
The whole athleisure thing is quite new-age, so don’t be afraid to get creative and think outside of the box. That is how some of the most stylish outfits are born.
A Tropical Twist
Like I mentioned above, this trend can go in basically any direction you want it to. For today’s look I decided to tune into the tropical vibes. These vibrant floral joggers from Forever 21 were the perfect piece for the look. Typically I would pick out all neutrals, solids, etc. for an athleisure look. But this was a fun take on the style that created an extra fun look. I kept the rest of the look pretty neutral and minimal, with basically everything being black. The fishnets of course add some flare too.
