My First Designer Handbag
Happy Monday guys! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Mine was filled with a little family get together Friday night, a fun house party on Saturday, the beach, and my first designer handbag purchase! To some this might not be a big deal, to others it might seem ridiculous, but to me it was a special experience that I wanted to share with all of you! So if you’re interested in learning more about why I chose the bag I chose, how I saved up, and what the process looks like – read on!
Hard Work, Saving, & Planning
Let’s be real, buying a designer handbag is an investment. At least in my world it is by no means casual to go out and spend thousands of dollars on most fashion items. For the most part I like to purchase pretty affordable items. I love being able to share how to style affordable pieces so that a larger audience can benefit from my tips and tricks. But I also believe in splurging where you see fit. In my eyes this purchase was a reward to myself for working hard, saving well, and planning it all out.
Ever since I started my career as a blogger I’ve been working extremely hard. I basically haven’t taken a day off since two years ago when I started. And it’s really paid off. I’ve been able to successfully grow my platforms, make a decent living, and continue to expand my business. Because I spend so much time working and my job revolves around getting free clothes, shoes, and accessories I haven’t really been doing much shopping. But with a purchase like this I felt it really made sense for me. It was a way to reward myself without overloading on more clothes, and something I could really cherish forever and be proud of.
Save Save Save!
I’ve also been saving each month with this purchase in mind. And by saving I mean – not spending money on anything unnecessary for the most part. It depends on your budget and such – but in general don’t go shopping, try to eat at home, don’t go out drinking often, etc. When it came down to it I was prepared and ready to afford such a large purchase because I had been saving for months. If you yourself are looking to make a big buy like this I suggest saving however much you can each month, planning out the time frame you might be ready to buy, and really thinking through the purchase. This way you are totally comfortable with and prepared for the price tag, the experience, and the end result.
How To Pick The One + How I’ll Be Styling It
Picking out the right bag was a hard decision. Because it was such a large purchase I felt a lot of pressure on picking out the right one. Initially I had wanted the Gucci Super Mini Dionysus because I was obsessed with tiny and adorable it was and I feel like the classic GG print goes with everything. But when we got into the store and started trying bags on – it was just SO tiny. This was what I liked about it aesthetically, but practically I couldn’t even fit my phone in it without taking off the case. Logically it didn’t make a ton of sense. At least not for an everyday bag – which is definitely what I wanted for my first designer bag. One day I’d still like to get the Super Mini for a fun accessory, but this purchase needed to make more sense.
Go With Your Gut
Funny enough – Clayton actually ended up picking out this bag. I hadn’t really noticed it and he pointed it out. From there I tried it on and just started loving it. Something in my gut told me to go with it. It was different than what I planned on getting but I kind of liked that about it. It felt like it fell into my lap and it was like a fun little surprise and twist to the experience. I loved that it was bigger and therefore more practical for me. I also loved the thick gold chain (not pictured here as a I was wearing it in the shorter version) and the rest of the gold hardwire as I wear gold a lot.
How I’ll Be Rocking It
As far as styling goes I feel like this bag is going to go seamlessly with nearly everything I wear. But I’m also the type of person to be very careful and mindful of when and how to wear it. For example I probably won’t be rocking it for super casual occasions just so I don’t get it dirty, damaged, lost, etc. Maybe after some time I will toughen up and brave the world but for now I feel like I need to intensively protect and cherish my bag – LOL.
Anyways, thank you guys so much for reading about my experience. You can also watch the Vlog below to see some more of the adventure. Have a great week! Xo
