Date Night Done Right
Friday night is usually our favorite night to celebrate a ‘date night’ as the week’s work is closing out, we’re looking forward to the weekend, and there’s just a special buzz about Friday nights if you ask me. This weekend we decided to have a special date night, a little fancier than we usually get. So I wanted to share the look and experience with you guys in today’s blog! Read on for more! 🙂
Chic Date Night Look
As I mentioned above Clayton and I took a rather fancy date night this weekend at Nobu in Newport. Since we don’t usually do anything too fancy I decided it was the perfect excuse to wear something a little dressier than my normal. If you’ve been following a long for a while you know I’m not big on being super girly or dressy, but even for me it’s fun to sprinkle in these looks once in a while!
We all know there’s no better look than a little black dress for a dressier date night. For this look I took the classic LBD and added a twist with the blazer silhouette – this little number from River Island is so good! It’s a great way to add a little bit of flare and edge to the look. We all know I don’t want to ever be too girly so this was the perfect way for me to add in a masculine/edgy element. However, this dress was pretty much shapeless on me – but not to worry because belts can fix almost every sizing issue! 😉 Here I paired this pony hair leopard print belt to add a little spice and give the looks some body. AKA give myself a waist – LOL.
To tie it all together I kept it simple and chic – a pair of strappy black heels are my go-to for looks like these. I’ve been loving the pointed toe trend happening right now, and these ones from Public Desire are actually so comfortable! And obviously I brought my fanciest handbag to compliment my fancy date night look! I did a black smokey eye because I was feeling sassy, but let my hair air dry and do it’s thing to give a but of a natural/glam balance. What do you guys think? Would you rock this look?
Our First Time At Nobu
As I mentioned above we decided to be a little extra for this weekend’s date night and try out Nobu. We’ve both been working super hard so we wanted to celebrate that, plus it’s always fun to try out a place you’ve never been. We get very caught up in our same spots in Laguna, and for good reason – they are amazing but we’re also always on the look out for new spots!
Nobu did not disappoint! If you’ve never heard of Nobu it’s a basically an upscale seafood and sushi restaurant. A lot of celebrities frequent the location in Malibu, but Clayton and I knew it wasn’t likely we’d be making it to that one anytime soon as it’s about two hours from our house. However, the one located in Newport Beach is only about 20 minutes away from us – so it’s a perfect spot to slip away to for a date night. The service, food, and atmosphere were all on par. We will definitely be going back for more date nights in the future! 🙂
