MY FIRST FASHION WEEK
The Breakdown
A Dream Come True
First of all, let me start by saying Fashion Week was an amazing experience. It’s always been on my bucket list so to speak, and I still can’t believe I went. Per usual I am humbled, honored, and amazed at the opportunities this journey has allowed me and I am so excited to share my Fashion Week experience with you!
Here’s the thing about Fashion Week – it was amazing, but it was a lot different than I had expected. Which is why you should never expect or assume anything ha.
The shows, presentations, and events are absolutely amazing – but each one is different. A lot of the fashion at Fashion Week isn’t necessarily “consumer fashion” so the shows and presentations we saw reminded me of an art gallery – which was awesome. I loved seeing the expression, the creativity, and the craftsmanship that went into these collections. It’s a beautiful thing. Some where held as traditional “runway” style shows, some were more abstract and moody, and some were more like parties than anything else. There’s a whole mix of events to attend and they are all so fun!
Hello Chaos
One thing that I wasn’t expecting out of Fashion Week was the complete chaos and disorganization. Thinking back I should have known that a place like Fashion Week would be chaotic and hectic, but I didn’t know it would be quite as crazy as it was. I think this was just part of the learning curve for me.
After the first night of events we realized we needed to get everywhere early and still expect to wait or not even get in. The thing is a lot of these events and shows are overbooked. Therefore even if you have an invite or a ticket, you might not make it through the door if the show is at capacity before you get there. Until you gain some VIP status this is just the way it works. It’s almost a bit of a gamble. In most situations like this I would get a little anxious and worked up. However during Fashion Week I just went with the flow. I was pleasantly surprised and thrilled every time we were able to make it to the show and I was allowing and relaxed when the stars didn’t align. So unlike me – but it felt nice. Maybe I’ll keep it up 😉

What Fashion Week Inspired In Me
Fashion Forward
The fashion I witnessed at Fashion Week was out of this world. From the runway to the street style, I was completely obsessed with the constant inspiration around me.
This made me realize that I often suppress my own style. Wether it be the societal pressures of looking and dressing a certain way, or the fear of being judged or laughed at – I realized that I don’t always wear what I actually want to be wearing. And that needs to change. All around me I saw people expressing themselves confidently and proudly with their style, and I admire that so much. It also inspired me to make a point of being more true to myself and expressing and exploring my own fashion sense.

Other Inspirations
Not only did Fashion Week inspire me to up my fashion game, but it also did a lot for me personally. For anyone that hasn’t been to NYC, it’s honestly the most magical place I’ve ever been. And if you have been, I’m sure you know exactly what I’m talking about.
Being there instantly makes me feel inspired, motivated, and excited. The city has a certain charm and energy about it that I’ve never felt anywhere else. After spending a week there I felt more in tune with myself and I realized a lot of things.
For starters this experience reinforced that I love what I do. I couldn’t wait to get started on this content so I could share it with you guys. I absolutely love being able to share bits of my life, my fashion, and my thoughts with you guys.
A New Perspective
Exploring NYC made me realize how much I love to be behind the camera, as well as in front of it. I have thought about starting up some photography for a while but I didn’t know how it would go over with my audience. And I didn’t want to offend any photographers by thinking I had the chops.
This trip made me realize that both of those ideas are complete garbage because A) I want to be authentic and real with you guys, therefore by taking photos and sharing them with you all I’m showing you the real me and B) no photographers should have the time of day to worry about what I’m doing and if they do I simply don’t care. That being said I’m going to share a photo diary of my trip soon as well as some of my shots on my Instagram here and there!
Anyways, I was really touched by my experience in NYC this past week and I am really excited about the revelations it has brought to me. I can’t wait to share more of my new content with you guys!

Ready For More
To sum it up my first Fashion week experience left me feeling inspired, motivated, and hopeful looking into the future. I cannot wait to attend future Fashion Weeks and continue to get inspired by these experiences.
Because Clayton and I loved NYC so much we also can’t wait to go back and explore any chance we get. One day we may even find ourselves residing there – who knows! In the meantime I’m going to channel the inspiration I got from this past trip into some great content for you guys. I can’t wait to share and I hope you all enjoy it! Down below is the vlog of our trip if you want to see it from a video perspective!
