Lace And Velvet, A Match Made In Heaven

I’m totally one to mix colors, patterns, textures, styles…whatever. I love the idea of breaking boundaries in the fashion world and expressing yourself through clothes in any way you see fit at the time. If you like it, wear it. Right? For today’s look I decided to pair this lace overlay from Forever21 with these gorgeous velvet bells from Berkley E11even.

The lace overlay has embroidered pink roses which definitely gives the look a soft feminine feel. The sheer effect from the black lace adds some edginess to the look, while the velvet bells give it a funky rock-star vibe.

Lovin Lace

Lace has always been and will continue to be one of my favorite fabrics. It’s classic and timeless. And like I said it’s great at giving off a soft feminine look. But it is also great for spicing something up and making it a bit more edgy. This lace overlay would also pair great with a black body-con dress and some booties. I of course was in some pretty cold weather so I opted for pants instead, although I have been known to ignore the weather in order to make a fashion statement. But for this occasion I decided to be practical and still stylish. I even think this overlay would look great over a pair of light-wash bell bottoms and a simple bra for a bohemian look.
 

Velvet

Velvet is a texture that is currently trending big time. I see it EVERYWHERE. Bodysuits, pants, dresses, boots…you name it and they probably have it somewhere in the form of velvet. I personally am digging the velvet trend. It’s a super soft comfortable material and I feel like it makes your outfit really fun and funky. Velvet is anything but boring. These velvet bells are great because they can go with band tees, crop tops, bralettes and jackets… and anything else you want. Plus they are way more comfortable than jeans so feel free to frolick and over-eat as much as you want while wearing them 😉

I had a lot going on between the textures of my clothing so I decided to keep the accessories and shoes simple. I opted for these classic black booties from H&M that are perfect for like every look ever, and this black stringy necklace. Feel free to pile on the accessories when mixing textures if you want to go for a super fun and funky look. Enjoy!
