Home Means Nevada
This past weekend/beginning of this week I spent in my hometown of Reno, Nevada. Summer is an especially fun time to visit home as there’s tons of Summer festivities to be had. From Lake Tahoe, the rodeo, catching up with family and friends – I did it all these past few days and had so much fun! Read on for more.
Rodeo Season
One of my favorite parts of growing up in Reno was attending the Reno Rodeo nearly every year. The carnival rides and games kept me entertained as a child and as I got older the social scene and general party atmosphere of the rodeo kept me very entertained as well. Of course I’ve always loved the chance to get dolled up and dressed for the occasion too. Anything that requires special styling makes my heart sing and the rodeo is no different – it’s definitely a great opportunity to whip up some cute fits!
Some of my favorite memories have been made at the rodeo, it will always be a special place to me. Clayton and I put together our best rodeo looks and headed out where we enjoyed carnival food, a few beers, major people watching, and some live action in the rodeo of course too. It was a perfect Friday night.
Lake Tahoe
Another major part of growing up in Reno is visiting Lake Tahoe quite frequently. During my high school and college days I would sometimes go to the lake 3 or 4 times a week. If you’ve never visited Lake Tahoe you’re really missing out. It’s one of the most beautiful places in the world. Crystal clear blue water surrounded by mountains and pine trees – absolutely stunning! Clayton and I both miss being able to spend a day at the lake so we decided to squeeze in a little Tahoe trip this visit to Reno. We hiked down to some secluded rocks and enjoyed the beautiful setting. Because the water comes straight from the snowy mountains surrounding the lake – it’s freezing cold. Therefore I opted not to go in but Clayton couldn’t resist. It was a special little treat in the midst of our visit home! 🙂
Catching Up With the Crew
Other than these festivities we did the usual visiting and socializing with friends and family. My whole family is in Reno so I’m lucky enough to be able to see them all when I come to visit! Family dinners, backyard hangs, cocktails with my girlfriends – these are all things I try to squeeze in while I’m in town. It means so much to me to be able to spend a little time every month or so with the people I love the most! 🙂
Believe it or not I will be flying back out to Reno this Friday to head up to Lake Almanor (which is about two hours away from Reno) for some Fourth of July festivities. From here we’ll be road tripping to Donner Lake to spend a few days with Clayton’s family to celebrate the holiday as well. I can’t wait to get back up into the mountains and enjoy some more Summer festivities. Be sure to follow along on my Instagram for all of the latest updates! Xx
