The Journey to 100K Instagram Followers

Wow wow wow. I cannot believe I’m writing this blog post right now. It’s obviously been a goal of mine to grow my social following since I started this blogging journey 2.5 years ago. For whatever reason 100k really seemed like some ethereal number that I’d never get to. And let me tell you, it took a lot of time and effort but it was so worth it! I wanted to share a little insight on what it feels like for me to have reached this goal, what it took to get here and what my next steps are! Read on for more!
Started From The Bottom
I can’t help but thinking that all things start from the bottom, a social following being no exception. It’s crazy to think that every account starts with 0 followers. And after time, technique, dedication and a lot of work you can start to pick up some traction and amass large numbers of supporters.
Sometimes it can seem painfully slow and stagnant. It can be very defeating and disheartening to chip away at numbers like that. But it can also be exciting and rewarding to put in work and watch yourself grow. My advice for those of you trying to grow a social following is to be patient and persistent. We all go through good times and bad times, considering it growing pains. You will have to spend a good deal of time experimenting and learning your true style of creating content and presenting it to your audience. Some methods are going to be better received than others and that’s okay – use that as a powerful insight tool. And do NOT be afraid to try new things. If and when you’re feeling stagnant switch it up. This can range anywhere from content style, color palette, time of day you post, number of posts a day, caption style etc.!

Don’t Forget To Stop And Smell the Roses 😉
Something I’ve always pondered in this industry is how to find a good balance. Since it’s a self-made career it’s really easy to get entirely consumed by it. And a side effect of getting consumed is the insatiable appetite for more progress, more productivity, and achieving the next goal. While there’s nothing wrong with being ambitious and driven, I do find that there is something wrong with the inability to stop and celebrate your success. What I mean by this is pretty simple – slow down, pat yourself on the back every so often (or more) for coming as far along as you have (not follower # related) and don’t forget to give yourself credit for even the small things.
It’s very easy to forget how far you’ve come because it’s a gradual process. This can sometimes lessen the shock factor of achieving accomplishments because it’s as if it’s been creeping up on you for months and by the time it’s time to celebrate you’ve already got your sights set on the next achievement. It’s majorly important to slow down, acknowledge and celebrate your hard work, and savor it. I find that this is the only way to feel fulfilled in your work and your efforts. Stay motivated and inspired to keep climbing, but honor and celebrate the entire journey and each accomplishment along the way!

What’s Next!
Speaking of that… now that I’ve reached a major personal goal of mine I’m going to challenge myself to relax for a period of time, celebrate, and savor this. As I’ve mentioned before I’ve really been grinding since I started this journey. It’s sort of my nature to over work myself and zealously commit to my goals. Each number, each job, each achievement has all been a part of that larger hustle. But I’m taking the opportunity to treat 100k instagram followers as a monumental moment that deserves a little more celebrating.
Therefore I’m planning to be a little less active on social for some period of time. Keeping up with 1-2 posts a day 7 days a week every week can be pretty demanding and exhausting. And although I love it I think a little bit of a break for myself and Clayton (bf and photographer) is much needed. And since we’ve achieved this goal it’s a perfect time to celebrate our hard work.
Of course aside from relaxing and relishing this achievement I’m also busy scheming up how to evolve my content, myself, and my business in this next chapter. That being said I’m so excited to continue to grow my community, connect with beautiful souls all over the world, and create content that inspires!
Anyways, thank you guys SO MUCH for the love, the support, and the kindness that you’ve given and continue to give me on this journey. I am feeling so blessed and so grateful for each and every one of you!! Xo
