How To Get a Luxe Look Without Breaking the Bank

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you need a dressy look but you don’t want to spend a zillion dollars on it? Because, same. In fact, sometimes I don’t even want to spend more than $50 dollars on a dressy look. Don’t get me wrong I love a good splurge but sometimes it’s not feasible or appropriate. For example, say you’re going to a fancy party, a wedding, or a big event and you have your heart set on a gorgeous $300 dollar dress. But the problem is you don’t have 300 random dollars laying around. Or the piece is so specific that you would probably never wear it again, or at least not frequently. This is the perfect opportunity to take an affordable look and turn it into something so damn glam you will feel like a queen!

The Go-to Color for Affordable to Glam

What’s universally flattering, slimming, and chic? Oh yeah, that’d be black. Black is probably my favorite color to wear because it goes with everything, it works for pretty much any occasion, and it’s so easy to dress up. Black is technically a neutral and therefore you’ll be able to wear it time and time again. However, if you find a piece that has enough attitude it can also be a statement piece at the same time. Win-win! When shopping around for an affordable piece that’s going to make you look and feel like a million bucks I suggest keeping an eye out for black! It’s my go-to for this trick. However, if a pattern or another color catches your eye don’t shy away from it, that could work out as well.

What To Look For When Shopping for the Affordable Piece

When looking for an affordable piece to turn into a glam look make sure to look for something that stands out. It doesn’t need to be covered in sparkly gems or have a great deal of intricacy. But it should be something with a little “umph”. For example, this black dress I’m wearing in today’s post isn’t anything crazy but it still has a lot of personality. The high double slights and the criss-cross open back add some elegance to the dress. Paired with this crystal choker it becomes a very chic and glamorous look.

However, it can easily be dressed down as well. Pair this baby with a pair of flip flops and a messy bun and you’re ready for any summer day! It’s all about the accessories and what you chose to play up with the outfit. Here I’ve accentuated the glam look with the choker and full makeup.
