2019 Edgy Winter Styling
Today I’m going to be sharing a few tips for Winter styling! Although the weather in Southern California is generally amazing we have been experiencing some pretty chilly days lately and quite a bit of rain. This has inspired me to put my best foot forward in some updated winter styling. I actually decided to do a YouTube video round up of 10 winter outfits. I’ll include that at the end of this article if you want to check it out! 🙂
Edgy But Cozy
If you’ve been following along for awhile you know I love edgy looks. I would say they are my go-to style, although I bounce around through many other tastes as well. Now that I’m having to bundle up to stay warm it can be a challenge to still create an edgy look. Today’s look is one of the 10 looks in my YouTube video and it’s one of my favorites because it’s still very edgy and unique. I’m going to break down a couple of key pieces in this look and how they can be styled in a multitude of ways!

Teddy Coat
This is a winter ESSENTIAL. I picked up this oversized teddy trench at H&M (in store this season, but I can’t find it online for you guys sorry!) and I’m so glad I did. It’s the perfect piece to throw on with so many Winter looks. Plus its extremely warm so it’s functional and cute – win win! I opted for this camel color because it matches virtually everything and it seems like a classic that won’t go out of style. I’ve paired it with sweaters, hoodies, tee shirts, skirts, dresses and it works perfectly for all of them. It can be styled in an edgy street style manner or for a more chic and classic look – so versatile! An oversized very cozy teddy coat is a must have for these colder months. I’ll link some similar options below!

Wide Leg Trousers
These plaid wide leg trousers were the perfect piece to make this look a little more edgy and urban. I’ve been loving the look of pants like these lately as I feel they create a cool and effortless look. They are also super wearable. They are comfortable and versatile. Pair them with a button up and heels for an office look or with a graphic top like I’ve done here for a more casual edgy look. I also love the high waisted fit of these ones, it’s so flattering on every body type! I’ll link a few other options of similar pants below!

The Undertuck
I’ve recently learned of a new style trick – I’ll call it the under tuck although I’m not sure of the proper title. Anyways, as you can see in today’s look I’ve tucked my shirt under my bra to create a customized crop top. I believe I learned this trick from a fellow fashion blogger – Lydia Rose od @fashioninflux. I instantly fell in love with this trick as it’s a stylish and fun way to tweak any outfit and make it bit more interesting. I’ve done it here with this little graphic sweater but I’ve seen it done with chunkier knits and oversized tee shirts as well. This is also a great way to make any look – even a winter look a little more edgy. Although it may make you a little less warm I think it’s worth it! 😉

Edgy Accessories
Another great way to add some edgy elements to any look is to throw in some fun accessories. Don’t be shy when it comes to accessorizing because it can really help elevate the look! For today’s outfit I went with a bumbag/fanny pack with some chain details which is the perfect edgy element. It’s also a very practical and useful accessory as it stands in for a purse and allows you to be totally hands free and stylish. I also added in these fun hair clips. I’ve been loving the vintage vibes these give off and it’s such a fun way to spruce up your hair! To finish it off I worse some gold necklaces stacked up for that cool girl look and some big gold hoops. I’ll link some similar accessories below.
