Fun New Accessory Alert:
Happy happy Friday friends! Although this week was short due to Memorial Day, I’m still super excited to embark on this next weekend and celebrate yet another Friday. I’ve got some fun content to shoot this weekend, an exciting giveaway coming up, and a few events to hit so be sure to follow along on instagram to get all my updates and watch via stories! Anyways, for today’s post I’ll be sharing one of my favorite current trends. I’ve been toying with this trend for months but I think I’ve finally found my comfort level with it and I’m ready to start rocking it regularly. Read on to learn more!
Cinch Me Up
As I mentioned above, I’ve been playing around with the corset, bodice, lace up trend for a few months now. I’ve always loved the idea of this trend as I find it to be all things me – edgy, different, and a little daring. I first started styling this look back when we went to Paris. You can check it out here and here! I was feeling a little adventurous since we were headed to another country. But ever since then I’ve been playing around with styling corsets and bodices into my looks. I love that it adds some shape to a look without being too revealing or feminine. It’s still super edgy and fun which is totally what I’m going for.
I find it works best when mixing some contrasting elements in. For example, the bodice/corset will give you a cinched up look. To contrast this I recommend pairing it with something a little baggy or flowy. For example, an oversized dress shirt or tee works great. If you’re going for a less edgy look and a more bohemian flare a flowy bell sleeve blouse of dress would be a perfect piece to pair with this trend as well!
Denim Corset
Originally when I picked out this denim crop top from River Island I pictured styling it as a top on it’s own. However, as fate would have it I was a little too endowed to rock this crop top as a top alone. But no worries – layering to the rescue!
I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to put my new found corset love to the test. I’ve been dreaming of paring sultry corsets and bodices with baggy oversized vintage tees and I knew this would be a prime time to execute this look. I decided to pair the light wash denim corset and flare cropped jeans with this vintage Harley tee. It created a comfortable look that was edgy and sexy with a modern twist.
To add a feminine touch and a pop of white I threw on these killer platform heels by River Island. They have quickly become one of my favorite pairs of heels. I love the retro vibe they give off and they are super comfortable. I walked over a mile in these babies and was surprisingly pleased with how well they held up.
