Today’s post is something a little different. Last week I shared a confession with you guys over on instagram. That confession being that I struggle with full body pictures. Sounds a bit silly – and that is partially why I never really divulged on the topic. But it’s true, so I decided to talk about it.
Much to my delight I got a huge response. Most of you shared that you too find full body images more difficult, but there was also a huge outpour of support and encouragment. Needless to say I quickly realized this was a topic worth discussing. Hence today’s blog post – I’ll be sharing a list of inspo accounts for full body shots, tips and tricks I’ve learned and collected from others, and a bit of my personal journey with this type of content. So if you’re like me and you’ve struggled to feel confident and comfortable posing for a full body pic read on!
Let’s Talk Inspo
Inspiration is one of my favorite ways to remedy creative road blocks. It’s living proof that it’s possible to create inspiring beautiful things. So when you’re feeling like you can’t take a full body pick to save your life – look no further than these amazing girls. Their full body pictures give me all the inspo and some of them are even shorter than me! I’m 5’4” for reference. Anyways – check out all these babes to get your full body brain workin.
P.s. this is a roundup of the most suggested accounts from YOU GUYS for full body inspo as well as some of the girls I already look up to myself!

Tips & Tricks
Again, when I mentioned this struggle of mine I was so touched by the outpour of love and support. I also received a bunch of great tips and tricks, and I’ve picked up a few on my own although I by no means am an expert yet – just aspiring ha!

It’s All In The Angles
This is pretty obvious. When you want to shoot a full body pic and not look like a thumb the photographer is going to have to get much lower to the ground than for a half up – obviously. But there’s a few other angle tricks you can use. For example, you’ll see in a lot of the inspo pics I’ve pulled above twisting your body and shooting from a bit of a side angle can be really flattering for full body pictures. I’ve noticed that I prefer this twisted look/full profile shots over most straight on full body pictures. You can also shoot angularly on structures (i.e. buildings/walls) to create a lengthening effect.
Body Language
Body language is so vital for full body pictures, because it’s doing most of the talking since your face is less visible. Make sure you’re creating interest and shape with your body language. For example, use your arms to create space around your body, slightly bend or twist your knees to create a chic slouchy look (if that makes sense? lol), pop a leg up – etc. You can also use some movement to create a nice natural body language effect.
Just Go For It
My last tip is simply just to go for it. Push yourself to do things you’re uncomfortable with – challenge yourself so that you can grow and expand! You don’t have to be great at this when you begin. Like all things it takes time, practice, and effort to strongly develop the skill. I felt way out of my comfort zone when I recently started adding more full body pictures to my feed. But I knew I wanted to do it so that I could share more of my full looks with you guys, and also because I wanted to diversify my content. And I truly believe that we can accomplish anything we set our minds to, so there was no reason not to take the leap and accept this challenge. So far I’ve had fun pushing myself creatively and I’ve gotten amazing feedback from my community.
